Hermiston FCA

Dear Friends,

We are incredibly thankful for what God is doing through Fellowship of Christian Athletes here in Umatilla and Morrow Counties! As another school year gets underway, we are already seeing tremendous participation from student athletes, with many of our teams experiencing record attendance at FCA gatherings.

One of the most exciting areas of growth has been at Hermiston High School. Cross country and football FCA meet one right after another, making it possible to connect with both groups of athletes, and our cross country gathering has been seeing a record turnout. Volleyball FCA has also provided an incredible opportunity to encourage students in their faith. Recently, former Hermiston soccer player Angel Cadenas shared his testimony with several teams after giving his life to the Lord. Seeing students hear firsthand how Jesus can change a life is exactly why we do what we do.

The impact of FCA doesn’t stop when students graduate. There are currently FCA ministries at 19 colleges throughout Oregon and Washington, and we know of at least eight former Hermiston student athletes who have gotten connected with FCA at the college level. It is encouraging to see seeds planted during their high school years continuing to grow as they move into the next season of their lives.

We are also grateful for the people and organizations who come alongside this ministry. Eastern Oregon Mission has generously donated drinks for athletes after practices, helping us serve students in a very practical way while continuing to build relationships with them.

As FCA continues to grow, we would appreciate your prayers. We are currently in the process of hiring a part-time helper and are praying for God’s direction and the right person for that position. We are also praying for FCA to begin again at Irrigon High School. Please pray for volunteers, open doors, and opportunities to reach students there.

Thank you for continuing to pray for and support FCA. Every gathering, conversation, testimony, and relationship is another opportunity to encourage a young person in their faith. We are grateful to have you partnering with us as we continue reaching student athletes throughout our community.
